At last a language tool that takes the time and drudgery out of looking up words!
Instant look up means you can spend your time reading Latin - not thumbing through your dictionary. This electronic version, developed by specialist programmer Tony Smith, includes a Latin analyser. Enter any form of the Latin word you like. It takes less than a second to analyse the word and give you the dictionary entry.
For instance, enter misit in the analyser and it instantly provides both an analysis (in this case, verb indicative perfect active 3rd person singular) and a link through to the correct dictionary headword, mitto.
Or enter portas and it provides two possible analyses:
 |
verb indicative present active 2nd person singular, from porto |
 |
noun plural accusative feminine, from porta |
and takes you through to the dictionary definition for porto. To go to the dictionary definition for porta, just click on the porta analysis.
If you have some Latin text on screen (in a web page or in Word, etc.) you don't even have to enter the Latin word you're interested in - just double click it and POL does the rest.
